DON'T HAVE TO SHOP AROUND

You know that feeling when you finally get back home after being out in the biting cold, remove your coat, and sit in front of the crackling fire, immediately desiring a track to play that feels like a warm bath for your ears? No? Yes? Well, my recent go-to track for the vibe I’m describing is The Mad Lads - Don't Have to Shop Around, which I discovered thanks to Kanye West sampling it on an unreleased track for his supposed upcoming album Bully.
Of course, I'm a sucker for any Doo Wop-style track, so hearing the original version by The Mad Lads (their debut single for Stax Records) for the first time a month or so ago felt like falling onto a familiar bed of smooth, audio sponginess. I hope to expound further on why I love Doo Wop so much in a future DR, but for now, let me say goodnight and leave you with this gem of a track from 1965.
