HORSE OF FIRE

Well, since I was born in the Year of the Horse and 2026 (according to the Chinese zodiac) is the Year of the Fire Horse (a once-in-60-years occurrence), I thought it was finally time to saddle up and get back into writing for Digital Renegade again.

Not only was I born in the Year of the Horse, but so too were my daughter and my late father. I hope this coincidence is auspicious for the year ahead. If the Chinese are right about this, then I (and indeed we horses) should all be anticipating a time of rapid change that rewards those rebel renegades who embrace fast-moving events in our personal and professional lives, as well as in the world at large.

Being fearless in the face of obstacles and galloping toward adventure seems to be the idea. So, if I can remove the shackles of apathy that the dreary month of January had me chained to like a sad hostage, then I will endeavour to ride the Fire Horse through the rest of 2026, at least to the best of my ability, into a brighter and more fiery future.

Naturally, those of us born in the Year of the Horse are believed to share similar traits to those noble animals, including being hardworking, warm-hearted, and independent. I can vouch for at least one of these qualities in regard to myself, but I'll leave you guessing as to which one it is. ^^

It's a shame that I have not yet enjoyed the successes and riches that individuals born in “horse years” are supposed to attain, but perhaps, like Al Jabal (the oldest recorded horse to win a race), there’s still time for this old nag to earn his "fortune and glory" à la Indiana Jones.

And as for the rest of you, Rabbits, Rats, Oxen, Tigers, Dragons, Snakes, Goats, Monkeys, Roosters, Dogs, and Pigs, I’m afraid you’re on your own this year.

Nevertheless:

恭喜发财,火马年大吉!
