VIBE WORTHY

Play something that is very, very vibe-worthy
I don't want my mind alerting
People saying tweeting gonna make you die early
How 'bout have my heart hurting?
Hold it all inside, that could make you die early

The world keeps spinning and getting crazier, meanwhile the discs keep spinning and help me mark the chapters of my life. Finding the years are increasingly becoming ill defined which I attribute to PLS (Post Lockdown Syndrome) that changed something fundamental about my perception of time, at least in the conventional sense of the word.

One song that carries me when my energy bars are in the red is Kanye West's 'Believe What I Say' from his 2021 album 'Donda' which has a bounce to it that I find impossible to deny and which breathes life back into me each time I need a boost. Of course, the Lauren Hill sample from her classic song 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' as well as the additional Buju Banton musical commentary all heighten the sublime nostalgic vibes of this track which makes me think of Kanye paying homage to the spirit of his 'College Dropout' debut album from 2004, almost twenty years earlier.

There's something strangely poignant about a popular artist wrestling with middle age who attempts to spark some earlier flame of youth back to life, even if the brightness of the light itself is getting noticeably dimmer as cumulative experience takes its toll.

Such is the transience of pop ephemera I guess ...

Like shooting stars.

Who knows when was the last time you felt the love
One last sparkle to follow in my light
One last sparkle to follow
